The breeding goal for this blend:
A blend of saturated and vibrant (but not overly bright or electric), jewel-tones to fill your garden with joy and brighten up your day without blinding you.
Breeders Notes:
These juicy colours are loved by the pollinators! Bees, butterflies and hummingbirds are attracted to them like magnets. Although the seeds for this blend were harvested from colourful, but not overly bright and garish blooms, this blend is expected to produce a number of blooms that are a bit too bright (most likely bright orange and pink). Pull out those that are too bright and let the mid-tones take over, if you wish! We will continue to select for saturated, jewel-tone colours that are not too bright in future years.
Please note:
All of our seeds are harvested by hand, by Barb, to ensure that they are from the exact plants pictured. However, our blends contain seeds from new varieties that are in progress in our breeding program, and therefore results will be somewhat unpredictable. Additionally, the seeds are from flowers that have been freely pollinated by local pollinators, and therefore will have been cross pollinated with the other zinnias in our breeding program to some degree. We have included plenty of seeds (50 seeds) in each packet to give you the opportunity to remove any plants with characteristics that you don't want. Please read more about our zinnias here.
