Breeders Notes:

These flowers were a new surprise in 2024. They came from a hand pollinated cross between white and pale pink flowers. These flowers are an example of the unpredictability of flower breeding. Sometimes crossing a white and a pale pink flower makes a paler pink flower (which was my goal) and sometimes it results in a purple surprise!

As the flowers grow, their purple hue starts to fade near the center, creating a beautiful gradient from almost white to purple/deep pink.

Please note:

*These flowers are the result of a brand new cross (a hybrid). Therefore, results in the next generation (the seeds for sale here) will be very unpredictable. I do not know what percentage of flowers will look like the flowers in these photos - it could be very small! By buying these F2 seeds, you take on the same risk that the breeder does in the very early stages of breeding a new variety! Enjoy discovering many surprises!

Additionally, these seeds are from flowers that have been freely pollinated by local pollinators, and therefore will have been cross pollinated with the other zinnias in our breeding program to some degree. Please read more about our zinnias here.
